Vermont was the 11th state to legalize adult use cannabis. The Cannabis Control Board Oversees the regulation of Vermont Seed to Sale.
On October 7, 2020 Gov. Phil Scott announced that he would allow S. 54, a bill to regulate and tax cannabis sales to become law. The Cannabis Control Board was established through Act 164 in 2020 for the purpose of safely, equitably implementing and administering the rules and regulating adult-use cannabis in Vermont. Retail sales are expected to begin in the fall of 2022.
Recreational Cannabis in Vermont
In 2004 Vermont adopted an Act Relating to Marijuana Use by Persons with Severe Illness (No. 135). The Vermont Marijuana Registry (VMR) reviews and processes applications, issuing registry identification cards to residents of Vermont with verified debilitating medical conditions and evaluate the compliance of registered dispensaries.
